Ted Vows to Win Back Nicole, While Leslie Warns of More ‘Surprises’ to Come

Tuesday, May 13, 2025: Today on Beyond the Gates, Ted tries to do right by Eva and Nicole, Doug reaches the end of his rope with Joey, and Martin makes an announcement about his political future.

Happy Tuesday! Well, it’s not such a happy one for Martin, who’s still plagued by dreams of “that night.”

Fearing that his subconscious is trying to warn him about something, Martin meets with Vernon to share some potentially good news: his unofficial presidential campaign is officially dead in the water.

But Martin says his decision isn’t just about his dreams. It’s also about what recently happened with Ted and Nicole. If nothing else, the whole situation has taught Martin that “family comes first.”

Back on the subject of his dreams, though, Martin says he’s been haunted by “pieces of the night,” complete with flashes of light and a voice saying, “Let’s see what color’s your money.”

Nicole Returns to the Land of the Living

Deep in grief over the loss of her marriage, Nicole cancels all of her appointments for the day, as she still feels unable to face the world. That is, until Dani intervenes.

“Duprees don’t run, and we sure as hell don’t hide,” Dani says, encouraging Nicole to fake her confidence until she eventually regains it. “Get dressed and go out. I will be by your side every step of the way.”

Unlike Nicole, Ted is apparently “done hiding” from the world. In fact, he’s meeting Eva for breakfast at the country club (aka “the scene of the crime”), where everyone in Fairmont Crest can see them.

And that’s exactly what Ted wants, for everyone to see them as father and daughter — even Anastasia, “the town gossip,” who is staring daggers at them from across the dining room.

Of course, Anastasia’s glare is nothing compared to the one Dani and Nicole give the duo when they arrive at the club.

(Of all the places she could have brought Nicole, Dani had to pick the club? The one where they always run into someone they don’t want to see? Come on, now.)

Ted Promises to Win Back Nicole

Vanessa swoops in to pull Nicole away, but Dani sticks around to give Ted and Eva another piece of her mind: “Remember what my mother and I told you. You may be here as Ted’s guest, but you mean nothing to the Duprees — and you never will.”

Anastasia also attempts to lend a sympathetic ear, though that sympathy quickly turns into judgment. “Between Ted and Bill, you Dupree women really know how to pick ‘em,” she says as she walks away.

Then again, Dani and Nicole get off pretty easy, compared to what Anastasia says to Eva. She calls Eva’s situation a real-life Cinderella story, though she warns Eva that she’ll never be the belle of the ball. Not in that church lady getup, anyway. It’s embarrassing enough to make Eva want to turn tail and run.

Proving she’s the absolute worst, Anastasia then throws herself at Ted, asking what kind of lip filler he’d recommend.

Just as Dani admits she’s beginning to feel better, along comes Ted with something to tell his wife: She’ll be seeing a lot more of him around town as he sets out to prove that he’s learned from this experience.

In fact, he promises that he and Nicole will be back together by their next anniversary — but that’s not really a promise he gets to make, now is it?

Joey Gives Doug a Terrifying Ultimatum

Doug, who’s been at the casino dodging Vanessa’s calls all night, promises to come home… but Joey has other plans for him.

In no uncertain terms, Joey tells Doug that the casino is where he belongs so he can attempt to repay his debts. Since Doug is apparently terrible at card games, Joey suggests he finds another way to get the money he owes the casino.

Joey’s first suggestion is for Doug to steal painkillers from the hospital and sell them on the street, but that would surely end with Doug going to prison — and he’s not cut out for life behind bars.

Instead, Joey suggests — nay, demands — that Doug reach out to Vanessa, whose family money could easily lift Doug out of debt.

“This is my problem,” Doug says. “I’m not dragging Vanessa into this.”

That’s apparently the wrong answer. “Let me tell you exactly how this is going to go,” Joey says. “And if you open your mouth, I’m going to break your other hand.”

Joey then presents another option: laundering money through Vanessa’s real estate firm. Doug says she’d never agree to do anything illegal, but as Joey explains, she doesn’t have to know.

When Doug refuses again, Joey gives him one week to pay back every cent that he owes — with interest.

Jan Turns Her Back on Leslie

Meanwhile, things are tense over at Orphey Gene’s, where Leslie thinks she can join Jan for breakfast as if nothing happened.

But Mona has brought Jan fully up to speed about Leslie’s shenanigans, and she has no interest in dining with a liar.

Leslie tries to explain her side of the story, including how Ted cruelly expected her to abort her baby, and Jan can’t help but get a little emotional. Still, Leslie will be eating alone for the foreseeable future.

“I never lied to my child about her father, and there’s no way I would have included her in some convoluted revenge plot,” Jan says. “You don’t act out of love, Leslie. You act out of hate.”

Martin Bonds With His Half-Sister

Fresh off her embarrassing morning at the country club, Eva then arrives at Orphey Gene’s, where she and her mother get into a shouting match almost immediately.

Martin overhears their fight from the next table, offering Eva a sympathetic ear. “Whatever you’ve done, you deserve better from the woman who raised you,” he says. “I’m sorry you had to go through that.”

Vernon, meanwhile, has less kind words for Leslie: “I will never forget what you’ve done to my family,” he says. “But for now, I pity you. In time, you’ll realize that rejecting the only person who loves you was a big mistake. But by then, it’ll be too late.”

Jan also has some words for Leslie, telling her she’s horrified by the way she just heard her speak to Eva. But she isn’t in the mood for any more judgment, storming out of the diner after promising, “I still have a few surprises up my sleeve.”

Frankly, we’re less concerned about the surprises Leslie has up her sleeve and more curious about the mysterious man who seems to be spying on the Duprees.

Ashley and Derek Face an Unexpected Obstacle

And things aren’t much better at Ashley’s apartment, as co-habitation isn’t going quite how she and Derek expected.

In fact, they apparently failed to connect sexually the night before, causing them both to be a little awkward around one another.

After a head-clearing shower, Derek decides that their bed looks lonely, inviting Ashley to join him for a little mid-morning delight.
