Thorsten Kaye had big shoes to fill as Ridge on The Bold and the Beautiful. But the actor’s made the role his own and is still going strong after a decade. As he nears his 12th anniversary with the show, Kaye is still having a blast.

His Longest Role
Kaye is no stranger to the soap opera world. His previous roles include Ian on One Life to Live, Ian on Port Charles, and Zach on All My Children. But in 2013, he landed his biggest role to date.
When Ronn Moss left B&B in 2012, the show needed a big name for the new Ridge. They found him in Kaye, who debuted in December 2013. Kaye had his work cut out taking over for Moss, but fans soon warmed up to the new Ridge.
Now, 12 years and 2 Daytime Emmys later, Kaye has become a leading man of B&B. And as he told TV Insider, he still enjoys his job.
”It’s the longest role I’ve ever had, which is kinda cool. We did six months to start with, and then another six months, and then a year, and all of a sudden, look. It goes by fast. If somebody had told me, ‘You’ve done this for five years,’ I probably would agree with them. But we’re still having fun, and we’re still telling stories that people want to hear.”
Ridge’s Big Realization
Currently, Kaye’s character Ridge is torn between his two loves, Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang) and Taylor (Rebecca Budig). A trip to Italy could impact which way Ridge’s destiny is headed. Ridge’s half-brother Nick (Jack Wagner) traveled to Naples to declare his love for Brooke. This is enough to spark Ridge’s jealousy and make him realize Brooke is the one.
