The Young and the Restless is in need of a new detective. After the shocking and tragic death of Chance, many are wondering who’ll be in charge of the GCPD. Well, a certain past character should return and take charge over the precinct.

Genoa City’s Finest
Many leading characters have had the honor of being Genoa City’s top detective. Paul (Doug Davidson) is the most famous and he kept the town safe for decades until his retirement and departure. Then there was Rey (Jordi Vilasuso), who sadly passed away in 2022.
Most recently, Chance (Conner Floyd) was the town’s lead detective. Unfortunately, tragedy struck in France when Chance was shot dead by Carter (Vincent Stalba). Chance’s death has sent shockwaves across Genoa City as his friends and family mourn their loss.
The big question on some fans’ mind is who will be Genoa City’s new detective. Well, one candidate for the job is someone close to Chance, his half-brother Ronan Malloy (Jeff Branson).
Ronan was a key player on Y&R from 2010 to 2012. He arrived in Genoa City as an undercover FBI agent, who took a job at the police department. Ronan and Chance butted heads at first, but over time formed a mutual respect for each other.
It’s been 13 years since his exit, and now is the time for Ronan to return.
Ronan should reunite with his mother Nina (Tricia Cast) during her time of need. Seeing Nina’s grief will convince Ronan to stay and become Genoa City’s new detective.
As detective, Ronan will make sure people pay for their crimes. His first order of business might be getting justice for Chance’s death.
Ronan going after Cane (Billy Flynn) would make for great drama. Although, the new cop will have a tough time going against Genoa City’s top businessman.
