One Life to Live legend Erika Slezak will not be reprising her role of Viki Buchanan on General Hospital, it turns out. The six-time Emmy winner’s fan club revealed that she will be playing a new character — and she doesn’t even know yet who it will be.

If the actress isn’t going to be Viki, whom she played from 1971-2013, that probably rules out Niki Smith’s alter ego being brought in to help Willow Tait maneuver through a bout with dissociative identity disorder. Didn’t we all figure she was headed there when at last she found out that she’d upended her whole life to be with Drew Cain, aka the scummiest of all scumbags?

Will Erika Slezak Be Playing Monica’s Sister?

What role does that leave for Slezak? Many a fan has predicted that she’ll be playing the heretofore-unknown sister of Monica Quartermaine. Since portrayer Leslie Charleson’s passing early in 2025, we’ve known that General Hospital will be working toward a proper send-off for the doctor, a Port Charles mainstay for nearly 50 years.

If Slezak is, in fact, playing Monica’s sibling, her introduction for this short-term arc could lead to more down the road and, in a way, help keep the memory of Alan’s widow alive on screen. Who do you think Slezak will be?
