Fans are speculating about the return of Thomas Forrester, played by Matthew Atkinson, in The Bold and the Beautiful. The character last appeared in July 2024, when he and his fiancée, Paris, left for France. Now, viewers believe Thomas is set to return with a bang.
Here’s everything you need to know about the actor’s potential comeback to the soap opera.
Is Matthew Atkinson returning as Thomas on The Bold and the Beautiful?
Matthew Atkinson is returning as Thomas Forrester in early September, according to Soap Opera Digest.
The actor left the show in March 2024 after Hope repeatedly rejected Thomas’s marriage proposals. Thomas ended their relationship and moved to Paris with his son, Douglas. He briefly returned in June 2024 with a twist — announcing his engagement to Paris Buckingham — before leaving again in July for France.
On August 11, Atkinson posted a video on Instagram of himself playing cornhole outside the soap’s new studio, Sunset Las Palmas Studios, after it moved from Television City. He captioned it, “Second time’s a charm,” which fans interpreted as a hint at his return.
In the comments, fans expressed excitement about seeing him back. One wrote, “Get back here Thomas I’ve really missed you terribly… can’t wait!!” Another commented, “I’m excited for Matt’s Thomas and Hope to be back on our screens together. Their chemistry is nxt level! Wouldn’t be the same with anyone else.”
Atkinson, who joined The Bold and the Beautiful in 2019 as Ridge and Taylor’s only son, previously told Soap Opera Digest he was moved by the strong fan reaction to Thomas’s departure. “I just never expected the response… there’s a wealth of people that are either really, really upset that Thomas is gone… That just speaks to their care for this character.”
Matthew Atkinson will officially return to The Bold and the Beautiful in early September 2025.
