This week’s slow burn goes to Jack and Billy’s relationship on The Young and the Restless. Needless to say, Jack isn’t happy with Billy. His young brother is at it again. Billy jumped onto Cane’s billion-dollar ship and ditched Abbott Communications. Jack could come up with the ultimate plan to stick it to his narcissistic brother.
Couldn’t Be Anymore Different
Jack (Peter Bergman) and Billy (Jason Thompson) couldn’t be any more different, and it’s not because of the obvious age difference. Sure, they grew up in completely different generations. But Jack and Billy hold some different views, especially when it comes to business. Jack is dedicated to his family just as much as he is to their family operations.
Meanwhile, Billy treats life like a gambling addiction, which he is. He would rather jump onto a new shiny object than stay committed to his family. Billy gave his top position at Abbott Communications to Sally (Courtney Hope), just so he could go work for the shark Cane (Billy Flynn), who’s trying to get a bite out of all of their corporations.
Time For Tough Love
Billy makes these stupid decisions because his brother allows him to. But it’s time for Jack to do something funny. He should start by giving his brother some tough love. From there, he should pull his money out of Abbott Communications and allow it to flop on its own.
Jack usually makes the wrong decisions when he’s hurt by Billy or disappointed in him. He complains about it, then lets Billy off the hook. But how many times has Billy done this to him? Enough is enough. Jack should finally teach Billy that his actions have consequences. Maybe from there, Billy will have some growth.
It’s time for the older Abbott brother to cut the cord. But this could be Billy’s plan all along. It’s as if he’s egging Jack to pull out because he wants Cane to help him. We’re interested in seeing where this storyline goes. It’s time for these brothers to fight to the bitter end.
