For all you “EastEnders” fans, get ready for a juicy off-screen romance that’s just been confirmed! Rukku Nahar, who brilliantly played Habiba Ahmed on the BBC soap until 2020, is officially in a relationship with none other than Michael Griffiths from Love Island 2019!
After months of swirling rumors, the couple finally went “Instagram official” with a series of incredibly loved-up photos. The snaps show the two packing on the PDA and even sharing a kiss while attending a heavyweight boxing championship at Wembley Stadium. Michael, 33, didn’t hold back his affection, gushing over Rukku, 29, in his caption, calling it “Her first official fight night. And what a night it was, here’s to many more adventures.”
This confirms what fans have suspected since last October when Michael and Rukku first set tongues wagging by attending the London premiere of Venom: The Last Dance together. While Michael was once “vilified” by Love Island viewers for his dramatic dumping of Amber Gill (who went on to win the show!), he’s seemingly put that chapter behind him. He’s previously stated he holds no “grudges” against Amber and has “no regrets” from his time in the villa, focusing instead on his career and becoming the “best version” of himself. After his Love Island stint, Michael even moved from Liverpool to Essex, living with former co-stars and starring in MTV’s Living The Dream.
This exciting news for Rukku comes amidst a separate, unrelated controversy stemming from the latest series of Love Island, which has seen contestant Harrison Solomon’s behavior heavily criticized. Viewers, and even Women’s Aid, have condemned Harrison’s treatment of Lauren Wood and Toni Laites, with Women’s Aid releasing a damning statement claiming his actions “reinforce a culture that excuses and trivialises violence against women and girls.” Harrison, who had a relationship with Toni before getting intimate with Lauren in Casa Amor, sparked outrage by attempting to rekindle things with Toni while keeping his actions with Lauren a secret. Both Lauren and Harrison have since exited the villa, with Harrison breaking his silence to MailOnline, insisting the charity was wrong to call him out and expressing how the statement upset his family. He has since apologized to the women he hurt, admitting he “got it wrong” and that his “back and forth between the two connections caused more harm than I ever intended,” vowing to “grow from it.”
So, while the Love Island drama continues to unfold, it’s clear that for Rukku Nahar, love is definitely in the air with Michael Griffiths!
