When the May 23 episode of General Hospital reveals more than the new Michael Corinthos’ hand — and we see that Young & Restless alum Rory Gibson (ex-Noah) has taken over the role from Chad Duell — all those who have crossed the character may want to duck for cover. “He has a thirst for vengeance and justice,” the actor tells TV Insider, “because it’s no secret what Drew put him through.
“[Michael] so badly wants to have a calm and peaceful life, especially after everything he’s gone through,” he adds, “but I don’t necessarily see that happening for him.”
Neither do we. Hell, Sonny and Carly’s son could well put half of Port Charles on blast for one reason or another. (Preview the aftershocks here.) Wife Willow cheated on him, then he cheated on her with Sasha, and of course mom Carly went and made a messy situation 100 times messier. There’s also the matter of who bombed Sonny’s penthouse, which sent Michael overseas in the first place. (Consider the suspects here.)
Gibson himself is no stranger to whodunits. He himself may have been the guilty party when he posted to social media a photo from his dressing room that left General Hospital fans guessing that he was the new Michael. (We had a different suspicion.) “I was like, ‘How do all these people know?’ I had a brief second of being like, ‘Oh, gosh, I hope I’m not in trouble.’”
Since then, the General Hospital newcomer has taken pains not to share or inadvertently overshare. As he settles into his new role, consider daytime’s best recasts, an estimable lineup to which he may soon be added.
