EastEnders star confirms big change for fan favourite Oscar Branning in dark story

EastEnders spoilers follow for the latest episode on BBC iPlayer, that will air on BBC One tonight.

EastEnders star Pierre Moullier has spoken about the change in Oscar Branning that takes place this week.oscar, fat mike, eastenders

Ever since his introduction a few weeks ago, Oscar has been a joker who is full of bravado and who doesn’t take a lot seriously.

That changes in this week’s episodes, after the dangerous Mike turns up on Albert Square again and almost beats Oscar to a pulp, before uncle Jack steps in and saves the day.

“Oscar feels threatened as Mike is a serious guy who doesn’t seem to care about getting caught or the consequences,” Moullier said.

“Since he arrived in the Square, Oscar has been all fun and games, but you’ll see another side of him this week because Mike wants to make him suffer for what he’s done!”

Lauren is adamant that Oscar should get help from Jack, but as the latest episode shows, the teen is against the idea at first, feeling that being associated with a police officer will only make things worse.

But Moullier explained that there’s more going on in Oscar’s mindset, stating: “He wants to take responsibility and thinks, ‘It’s my mess, I’ll fix it.’ Because Oscar is a smooth talker and he’s been getting himself out of tight spots all his life, he believes he can do it again…”

The episode ends with an on-edge Oscar attacking who thinks is a burglar with a knife, but it turns out to be Peter Beale.

As the week goes on, viewers will see that Oscar feels shaken to his core about what he almost did, admitting that his character has actually developed an admiration for Peter.

“It’s so awful for Oscar when he realises that he’s done this to Peter, who has been kind enough to take him in,” the actor said.

“Oscar plays lots of games with people, but deep down, he’ll do anything for the people he cares for, and Peter has become one of those people, so this is awful.”
