On Tuesday, DOOL announced that Suzanne Rogers, who has played Maggie Horton Kiriakis on the sudser since 1973, continues to remain a valued ensemble member of the long-running sudser.
“Maggie and Suzanne are integral to the show’s history, present storylines, and now, on the heels of our pick-up, the future!” according to a DOOL statement, first provided to Soap Opera Digest. “Neither are going anywhere.”
DOOL‘s decision to issue a statement came after fans began questioning whether the Emmy-winning actress is looking to retire from the soap world. There was even a story on Facebook that claimed Rogers announced her departure.
Peacock just renewed the sudser for the 62nd and 63rd seasons. Rogers’ character is expected to play a key role in upcoming storylines, including one that involves Sarah and her marriage to Xander, says Soap Opera Digest.
Currently in its 61st season, DOOL was recently nominated for 13 Daytime Emmy Awards, including Outstanding Daytime Drama Series. That’s the highest number of nominations the series has received since it moved to Peacock.
