Sami is back in Salem to deal with some “unresolved feelings.”

Alison Sweeney is returning to Days of Our Lives as Sami for an emotional storyline to honor the late Drake Hogestyn (John). Due to scheduling issues, Sweeney was unable to return to film John’s funeral.

Thankfully, the writers crafted a story that allowed Sami to come back to Salem to deal with losing John and be there for her mother, Marlena (Deidre Hall). Speaking with TV Insider, Sweeney teased her return, and this time around, fans will see a different side to Hurricane Sami.

Fans got a glimpse of those Sami and Marlena scenes in a recent promo for the hit Peacock soap. Sweeny warned it’s an emotional ride for the mother and daughter duo who haven’t always seen eye to eye.

“It is one of those mom/daughter moments where you really don’t have to say anything. It is just an extremely emotional moment as the hug and cry, and it is really heartbreaking,” Sweeney spilled.

Sami also wrestles with her turbulent relationship with John.Days of Our Lives fans know their rocky history, and that plays a major role in how Sami deals with his death.

“The arc of the Sami/John relationship, it seems to me that Sami has a lot of unresolved feelings about how she treated John. Things she can never make right now,” the actress explained.

Grab those tissues because Sami’s return is going to be filled with emotions. Add Johnny’s (Carson Boatman) trial into the mix, and fans are in for juicy entertainment for the next couple of weeks.

Sweeny’s latest stint is brief, but she will be back in November to be part of Days of Our Lives’ 60th anniversary.
