Throughout Season 1 of Hunt for Love, 90 Day Fiancé alum Colt Johnson has been caught in a love triangle, fighting for the affections of Cortney Reardanz against Usman Umar. That is, until Colt faced a shocking leg injury, which landed him in not one, but two hospitals for emergency surgery.
Following the premiere of Episode 11, Colt sat down with Swooon to discuss where he and Cortney stand so far, and how his hospital stay impacted their relationship.
During 90 Day: Hunt for Love, Colt admitted that he was “quite honored” that Cortney had chosen to spend so much time with him, especially while she had another connection back at the resort. While Cortney is still exploring things with both Colt and Usman, she confessed to Colt, “Honestly, I’m having more fun in the hospital with you than I am in the resort.”

When it comes to the amount of time Cortney spent with Colt in the hospital, Colt told Swooon, “She’s spending most of her time in the hospital. She spent nights there [and came] during the day when she wasn’t filming. She even missed out on a couple of scenes because she didn’t want to leave my side.”
According to Colt, this level of attention made him “really happy.” He shared, “I really wanted to see her before and/or after the surgery. She was the only real comfort I had down there. So anytime she was around, I was very happy.”
Cortney definitely did her best to bring the Hunt for Love resort to Colt in the hospital. However, when it comes to learning that he couldn’t return to the resort, Colt confessed, “That was sad. I was so sad. I kept asking if they just put me inside, or put me somewhere close.”
He continued, “I was trying to figure out a possible way I could go back.” Ultimately, he revealed, “When I found out I couldn’t go back, that really, really made me feel super sad, because I made a lot of great friends there and had a great time doing everything. I really didn’t want to leave.”
Much like his romance with Cortney, it’s clear that Colt’s Hunt for Love injury had the potential to extend long beyond the reality show, which filmed back in October 2024. Regarding his recovery, Colt teased, “Oh, man, recovery is like a story unto itself. Let me tell you, it wasn’t just a simple recovery, because I eventually had to have another surgery, and [the] recovery [was] very intense.”
While filming ended in 2o24, Colt told Swooon, “I wasn’t even starting walking again until May of this year.”

With only two more episodes until the 90 Day: Hunt for Love Season 1 Tell All, we couldn’t help but ask Colt what he can share about where his relationship with Cortney stands today. He teased, “Well, I guess you just have to kind of wait and see what happens with that. The Tell All [filmed in June] should be definitely interesting, let me tell you. I feel like there’ll be a lot of surprises between Cortney.”
Regardless of his injury, Colt explained that his time on Hunt for Love was “just a really rewarding experience to be able to go through that with a bunch of nice people.” He assured us, “Even though I had my accident, broke my leg, and everything, overall, I had such a great time. I would definitely do it all over again.”
