Inside Soap Awards 2025 announces nominations for this year’s ceremony

Soap fans, it’s time to have your say – the Inside Soap Awards are back for their 29th year.

The longlist for the 2025 ceremony has been announced today, celebrating the best storylines, performances and plot twists from the last 12 months.diane parish, michael parr, jennifer metcalfe, jack p shepherd

With no time to waste, the voting has now opened online and it’s time to choose your favourites.

Competition is sure to be fierce after another unforgettable year in soap. We’ve had all the drama of EastEnders‘ 40th anniversary celebrations, fiery peril for the Platts in Coronation Street, the spectacular limo crash in Emmerdale and the harrowing exploitation story involving the teens in Hollyoaks.

There have been shock comebacks – including Emmerdale‘s Robert Sugden boldly gatecrashing Aaron Dingle’s wedding and Hollyoaks‘ Clare Devine making an outrageous return from the dead – as soap bosses managed to lure back popular faces from the past to shake things up.

All of these moments and many more are reflected in this year’s nominations, along with nods for some of your favourite stars from Aussie soaps Neighbours and Home and Away, and long-running dramas Casualty and Waterloo Road.

This year also sees the return of the very special Soap Superstar prize, which gives fans the chance to nominate someone who’s gone above and beyond when it comes to providing entertainment over the last year.

“The Inside Soap Awards remain the only trophies of their kind to be voted for entirely by the real experts – the soap viewing public,” says Inside Soap magazine editor Sarah Ellis.

“Over 90,000 soap fans vote each and every year; and in addition to our list of nominees, our Soap Superstar category allows readers to put forward their own suggestions of who they feel deserves to be honoured.

“The past 12 months have been an epic time in soap, and I can’t wait to see who the readers of Inside Soap have decided to crown their favourites this year.”

As several much-loved stars bowed out from the soap world this year – some with happier endings than others – a Best Exit category has been added to the awards.

“Sadly, we’ve had to say goodbye to some truly beloved soap characters over the past 12 months,” notes editor Sarah Ellis. “Who didn’t cry their eyes out at Martin’s shock death during EastEnders’ live episode?

“And we’re still not over poor Craig’s tragic demise in Corrie, or the loss of Leyla and Amy in the devastating Emmerdale limo crash. But it’s up to the fans which exit will get their vote.”
