Romantic Family Dramas Like Sullivan’s Crossing & Virgin River Are Having A Moment

Audiences Want More Of This Fantasy

Romantic dramas provide a tension and fantasy that audiences can’t get enough of. It makes sense; marriage rates in the United States have hit an all-time low, according to the United States Congress Joint Economic Committee. If people aren’t experiencing romance in the real world, they can get a taste for it on TV.

Although TV trends ebb and flow, audiences aren’t growing tired of Virgin River and Sullivan’s Crossing. These shows will most likely have long runs, and the romantic drama trend will stick around for many years to come. More shows of this genre are sure to come.

Virgin River’s Showrunner Created Greek

Patrick Sean Smith Is The Master Of Romantic Dramas

Greek followed a group of college students at a Midwestern university all participating in the school’s sorority and fraternity system.

From house rivalries to blossoming romances to cheating scandals (both academic and amorous), there was never a dull moment during the dramedy. It’s the perfect binge-watching show now that it’s available on Hulu. Smith is clearly immensely talented, and fans of Virgin River will love Greek.

Greek’s Success On Hulu Shows It Deserves A Nostalgic Reboot

Fans Want More Of The College-Set Drama

Although Greek first aired almost two decades ago, the Spencer Grammer-led show still has an avid fan base. All episodes are available to stream on Hulu, and the series has an active subreddit with thousands of members. In the age of reboots, Greek should be next on the list.

For fans of the original series, a Greek reboot would be nostalgic and could include the original cast members returning to their alma mater. For new fans, though, the reboot could also include the newest sorority and fraternity members who are carrying on the legacy. A Greek reboot would have something for everyone, and should definitely be considered.
