Alison Sweeney’s return date as Sami Brady in Days of Our Lives revealed

Alison Sweeney will return as Sami Brady on Days of Our Lives starting August 5, 2025.

For those unaware, Sami was absent from her stepfather John Black’s funeral. The two shared a long and complicated history, which raised questions about her absence. During an episode, she called her son Will to inform him that she wouldn’t be able to make it to the occasion. The reason behind her absence was her daughter meeting with an accident. As a result, Sami decided to stay by her side during her surgery.

During an interview with TV Guide Magazine, Sweeney discussed her return and her guilt for being unable to shoot the funeral scenes of John Black. She stated, “I was so devastated that my schedule didn’t allow me to film the funeral scenes for John with the rest of the cast. I’m really glad they were able to make this happen.”

In the promo, Sami is seen coming back to town as she says, “Well, hello E.J.” She then emotionally reunites with her mother, Marlena, following John’s tragic passing. The two tearfully embraced each other as Marlena said, “I’ve missed you so much,” to her daughter. Sweeney opened up on these emotional scenes, adding, “It is one of those mom-daughter moments where you really don’t have to say anything. It is just extremely emotional as they hug and cry, and it is really heartbreaking.”

While expressing excitement for her comeback, the actor noted, “I love Sami, I love Salem, I love everyone there.” She further added, “It is a second home to me. I can’t imagine not having it in my life.”
