Hiking and Climbing Gear Featured on the Virgin River

Netflix just released its fifth season of Virgin River, a story about a nurse practitioner from Los Angeles, Mel, who moves to a fictional small Northern California town called Virgin River.

While watching this show, you may be captivated by the beautiful scenery in the background – snow-capped mountains, suspension bridges, breathtaking trails, the winding Squamish River, and lush trees. It makes every outdoor enthusiast want to jump through the screen to experience it alongside the characters. In real life, this show is filmed in Vancouver and the British Columbia area.

During this past season, there have been obvious signs of product placement from well-known outdoor brands like Patagonia and Black Diamond. If you’re curious about what gear and accessories the characters wear in season five, you’ve come to the right place.

Black Diamond Momentum Climbing Shoes: Jack is wearing the Black Diamond Momentum climbing shoes on his way up the granite wall with Denny.

La Sportiva Finale Climbing Shoes (Possibly): It is hard to tell, but based on the style of the shoe, Denny could be wearing a version of the La Sportiva Finale climbing shoes.

Black Diamond Half Dome Helmet (Possibly): The helmet in the show looks like it could be a discontinued helmet style. It seems like it could be close to Black Diamond’s Half Dome helmet.

Petzl Panga Climbing Helmet (Possibly): Denny is probably also wearing an outdated version of the orange Petzl Panga helmet while climbing with Jack.

It’s always exciting to see TV shows featuring different outdoor activities. It inspires more people to get out there and explore nature like their favorite fictional characters do.
