Days of our Lives spoilers for Tuesday, July 29, officially kick off Johnny’s trial with EJ and Belle each making their opening statements about their son/nephew.

Johnny’s Trial Starts

It doesn’t matter that Susan (Stacy Haiduk) “knows” that Johnny (Carson Boatman) didn’t shoot her Elvis. The courts, for some reason, aren’t dropping their charges. Which means Johnny has to show up. He has to sit there and listen and, eventually, maybe defend himself.

But he’s not alone. He has help. His father, the man he’s accused of shooting, is also his defense attorney. Oh, and his aunt Belle (Martha Madison) is the prosecutor. But that’s OK, too. Because EJ (Dan Feuerriegel) and Belle are sleeping together. Which makes this a very one big happy family kind of trial.

We’re not even counting that Leo (Greg Rikaart) is on the jury. Leo once blackmailed Johnny’s older brother, Will (Chandler Massey), and Will’s husband, Sonny (Freddie Smith). But neither EJ nor Belle had a problem with him being impartial. This is going to go so very, very well.

Kate and Philip Catch Up

Speaking of criminal families, Kate (Lauren Koslow) knows that Philip (John-Paul Lavoisier) and Vivian (Louise Sorel) forged the will in which Victor (John Aniston) left his company to his son. And she is totally cool with it.

Because Xander (Paul Telfer) is a bad man. (She was, however, very upset when Xander found out the truth and beat up Philip over it. More proof that Xander is bad. And Philip is a saint.) It’s been a while since she and her son got together to scheme against others. So they do.

Jada Gives Stephanie a Hard Time

Stephanie (Abigail Klein) wrote a book so sexy that everyone who reads it falls madly in love. Alex (Robert Scott Wilson) is begging to publish it on an accelerated track. This is exactly what being a writer is like.

Stephanie wants to keep her authorship a secret. Jada (Elia Cantu) teases her about it.
