In the Tuesday, May 20 episode of Days of Our Lives, Shawn and Belle talked about Philip and Versivex. EJ asked Paulina for her help in fixing his relationship with Johnny and Chanel. Julie had a run-in with Doug III and learned about Cat’s impending hospital auction date with Chad. And Leo’s working on two hot stories: Philip’s beatdown and the looming Xander versus EJ battle over the hospital. Much better than accusing Gabi of shooting EJ, right? Anyway, Gabi’s SORAS’d daughter Ari returned to Salem, and Gabi messed the reunion up for her, Ari, and Javi.
Welcome Back, Ari
Apparently, Javi (Al Calderon) isn’t just Gabi’s Gabi Chic assistant; he’s her personal assistant, too. She has him running around helping her pull off Ari’s birthday party.
While Gabi (Cherie Jimenez) thinks that Ari’s flight doesn’t get in until 4 p.m., suddenly, Ari (Marissa Reyes) is at the door and subsequently reuniting with her mom and uncle. JJ (Casey Moss) happens to be there because he questioned Gabi and Javi about Philip’s beatdown. He wanted to know if they knew about the beef between Philip (John-Paul Lavoisier) and Xander (Paul Telfer). They didn’t know much.Javi, You’re Fired
Gabi can’t believe nobody was at the airport to pick up Ari. She blames Javi, of course. Ms. Gabi Chic tells Javi he had one job, and he basically failed it. He reminds her that he does more than one job for her, yet he only has one paycheck. Gabi doesn’t stand for his tone and supposed insubordination, and she fires her cousin. But he one-ups her and then quits and leaves the house. What’s great here is how Ari immediately defends Javi. She’s clearly not going to let her mom get away with some of her diva behavior. Instead, Ari reveals how she had to catch an earlier flight because of a looming tropical storm. Gabi realizes she has to apologize to Javi.Later at the pub, Javi finally tells Leo (Greg Rikaart) what happened in Corpus Christi with his firefighting job. Javi was in the closet. Back then, he had a difficult time coming to terms with who he was, and he was scared of people’s reactions, considering his mom took the ‘I’m gay’ news so badly. But he finally let his guard down and confided in one of his straight coworkers, who proceeded to tell everyone. His boss was homophobic and ultimately made Javi’s life hell, so finally, one day, he quit.
