Austin Nichols Hints at Joining Virgin River — Fans Are Losing It

Could a One Tree Hill heartthrob be headed to Virgin River? Fans certainly think so — and they’re already brimming with excitement.

Austin Nichols, widely adored for his role as charming film director Julian Baker on One Tree Hill, recently sparked speculation about joining the cast of Netflix’s beloved small-town drama. The actor shared a cheeky Instagram story on June 19, dropping what many believe is a not-so-subtle hint.

“I’ve just landed in Virgin— I mean Vancouver — and starting a new job and I can’t wait for you guys to see it,” he said with a wink.

Vancouver, of course, is where Virgin River films, so naturally fans were quick to connect the dots.

From Tree Hill to Virgin River?

Nichols became a fan favorite on One Tree Hill after joining in Season 6 as Julian, the love interest (and eventual husband) of Brooke Davis (Sophia Bush). The character’s journey — from Hollywood outsider to devoted husband and father — captured hearts, and fans have long hoped to see the actor return to another emotionally rich, character-driven series.

Now, over a decade later, he could be making waves in Virgin River, which just wrapped filming for Season 7.

Fan Reactions: All Aboard the Hype Train

“One of my favourite characters and actors in OTH in my favourite show Virgin River?! Yes pleaaase,” one fan wrote.

Another echoed the sentiment: “Omg! If Austin is joining Virgin River, I’ll scream. Two of my comfort shows colliding?? Dreams do come true!”

 Netflix Has Yet to Confirm

While Netflix hasn’t officially announced Nichols’ involvement, the timing — and his not-so-subtle hint — has viewers speculating that a casting reveal could be just around the corner.
