Emmerdale icon Emma Atkins has opened up about her character Charity Dingle’s relationship with Mackenzie Boyd and whether or not she’d like to see her reunite with Cain Dingle
Emmerdaleย favourite Emma Atkins has given her view on the possibility of Charity Dingle rekindling a relationship with Cain Dingle.
Currently, the soap character is wed to Mackenzie Boyd, portrayed by Lawrence Robb, and the pair are making it work after a turbulent period due to infidelity and an unexpected baby.
Whilst attending a recentย Emmerdaleย press event, asked about the state of Charityโs union with Mack, Emma responded: โYeah, probably thatโs why we havenโt been doing much stuff because weโre on an even keel.โ
She continued, โItโs quite good, itโs comfortable and steady. Itโs quite functional which is unheard for Charity but itโs allowed us all to have a bit of a breather.โ
Speaking on current storylines she expressed, โIn fact, weโve been blessed with two years of awesome and consistent storylines so I think weโre just doing our own thing. Mack is doing a lot with Aaron (portrayed by Danny Miller) so itโs been good to do some Dingle stuff.โ
Touching upon the topic of whether there would be a spark again between Charity and Cain, Emma confessed: โWouldnโt it be nice. I do love the old school Cain and Charity but we all know that time moves on and I do love the Moira/Cain chemistry.โ
โItโs brilliant because they are both different and work as a Yin and Yang but with Charity and Cain, thereโs that level that thereโd be too much friction because they are from a similar stock where as Moira has that morally upstanding nature and I wouldnโt want to change their dynamic but I would love to work with Jeff and Nat Robb.โ
Charity is set for explosive scenes as she grows suspicious of Belle Dingle (Eden Taylor-Draper) and her relationship with hubby Tom King (James Chase).
The star said: โCharity starts to notice behavioural changes in Belle. She seems a lot more closed off, she doesnโt really want to socialise with her friends or family and sheโs home a lot at Tom and whenever sheโs out in the street sheโs always with Tom and Charity is like โyouโre never on your own, Belleโ.โ
โSheโs started to let her know that sheโs picking up this vibe that something may potentially be wrong but she knows at first sheโs got to play it as this subtle game. She teases little things out of Belle but not enough to know so she decides to plan a girly night.โ
โShe goes to see Chas and Lydia and says โI feel something is not right and I want to get to the bottom of it and at this point suspicions of Tomโs behaviour is ramping up.โ
